The Karnataka Mountaineering Association was founded by

Mrs.Usha Ramaiah in March 1966.

Aims and Objectives.

The primary aim of the association is to inculcate the spirit of adventure among the children and youth. We believe that propagating adventure and allied activities at the grass root level  and exposing the youngsters to its thrills would bring them closer to nature – so vital to live in unison. To channelise youth power into more meaningful endeavors, wean away youngsters form the addiction of the box,

History

The Karnataka Mountaineering Association, initially named the Mysore Mountaineering Association, was founded by Mrs. Usha Ramaiah in March 1966. Mrs. Ramaiah was the first woman from the state of Mysore (now Karnataka) to summit Mt. Mriguthuni in the Garhwal Himalayas in 1964 as a member of the first Indian women's expedition to the peak
