GOECHALA

Geochala

The Goechala Trek is among the most picturesque and sought after treks by trekking enthusiasts. The trek goes through the Kangchenjunga National Park, a UNESCO heritage site in the purest Himalayan State of Sikkim. The journey goes through thick forests, alpine meadows, glacial valleys, lush forest trails with rhododendron encircled meadows and eye-catching Himalayan vistas.

Trekkers experience biodiversity of rare flora & fauna. If lucky, you may even sight a red Panda. The trail changes dramatically every day in terms of terrain, climate and scenery. The grand spectacle of several towering snowclad peaks, including a spectacular view of Mt.Kangchenjunga is the toast of this trail. The view of the sunrise at the Goechala View Point that masks Mt.Kangchenjunga with golden light is a spectacle to behold. Enjoy the thrill of crossing hanging bridges across deep valleys and gushing waters.

The trek starts from Yuksom – a historical place with wonderful monasteries is the gateway to the Kangchenjunga Biosphere Reserve and culminates at the Goechala view point. The beauty of SAMITI – a pristine alpine lake reflecting the towering peaks is an added attraction. Undertaking this trek is not only a physical but also a cultural immersion. The trekkers often feel the wonderful hospitality of local residents and learn about the Sikkim’s culture and the mountain way of life.

A passionate wanderer or an experienced trekker, the Goechala Trek has the potential of creating an unforgettable Himalayan experience. The trek is graded moderate to difficult and calls for some trekking experience and exposure to the outdoors. Thankfully it is a less crowded trek. All in all it is a dream trail to trekkers, adventure & nature lovers as well as photographers.
