CHILDREN’S ADVENTURE TRAINING CAMP

Continuing with its tradition of conducting an annual Children’s Outdoor Adventure and Awareness Camp, this year too, the association will be organizing a comprehensive camp in the GETHNAA (General Thimayya National Academy of Adventure) facility in Ramanagara from 25.12.25 to 28.12.25. It is a wonderful, self-sustained campsite that has sufficient infrastructure to hold such camps. In fact, training camps, corporate programmes etc are held here quite regularly under the aegis of GETHNAA

KMA: Started in 1966, The Karnataka Mountaineering Association (KMA) is a pioneer body dedicated to the cause of training & promoting adventure and allied activities among the youth in the State of Karnataka. From humble beginnings, the association has grown in stature and performance. Today, the association has the expertise and equipment to organize full-scale Himalayan Climbing and Trekking Expeditions. With scores of experienced climbers and trekkers, the association is fully capable of meeting any adventurous challenge related to terrestrial activities. We are proud that the KMA was instrumental in sowing the seeds of adventure in the State. Its activities spread to such an extent, that several adventure clubs sprouted and are today functioning. Our programme's are economically budgeted to target children and youth. In keeping with the times, we have fine tuned and diversified our programme's to cater to all sections of society – the children, the youth, the elders, the stressed out professional etc.

RAMANAGARA: Ramanagara is situated at a distance of about 50 KM from Bangalore city. Previously it was called ‘Closepet’. Later, it was renamed as Ramanagara which was derived from Ramagiri hill near the town. Ramanagara district comprises of four Taluks, viz. Ramanagara, Channapatna, Magadi & Kanakapura.

The total geographical area of Ramanagara District is 3516 Sq. Km., of which 699.46 Sq. Km. is forest area. Cauvery, Arkavathi & Kanva are the three rivers that flow in the District. Ramanagara is known for growing Mulberry and Silk Weaving. Ramanagara houses one of the biggest Silk Market in India, giving it the name as ‘Silk City’. Nestled amidst the picturesque landscape of Ramanagara, is the Ramadevara Betta. It stands as a prominent hill that holds not only natural beauty but also a rich historical and spiritual significance.

This ancient hillock, also known as Ramagiri, is a popular destination history enthusiasts, trekkers, and spiritual seekers alike. Apart from its historical and spiritual facets, Ramadevara Betta is a haven for adventure seekers. The hill offers trekking trails that cater to both beginners and seasoned trekkers. The ascent to the hilltop is for rewarded with breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding landscape, making the trek a memorable experience. The famous blockbuster film Sholay was shot on this picturesque Hill and surrounding areas. Some scenes of the film ‘A Passage to India’ were also shot here. Since the 1970s this location has become extremely popular among tourists.

Ramadevara Betta Hill is the only Vulture Sanctuary in India and one of the best regions for trekking. The vulture sanctuary was officially set up in 2012. The long-billed, Egyptian and white-backed vultures are the three species found in Ramanagara out of the nine found in India.
