The Har Ki Dun and Ruinsara Valley trek in the Garhwal Himalayas of Uttarakhand is a captivating alpine expedition that begins with a scenic drive from Dehradun to the base village of Sankri, leading deep into the pristine wilderness of Govind Ballabh Pant National Park. Framed by towering snowclad peaks such as Swargarohoni, Bandarpoonch, and Black Peak, the trail follows the rushing Supin River through traditional wooden villages like Gangaad and riverside campsites such as Chilurgad. Advancing via high-altitude camps like Boslo and Untigad, the route opens to the majestic cradleshaped basin of Har Ki Dun before crossing over toward the rugged Ruinsara catchment to reveal the high-altitude, pristine lake of Ruinsara Tal. Descending through the multi-tiered meadows of Devsu Bugyal back to Gangaad, this accessible yet unforgettable journey combines stunning natural vistas, cascading waterfalls, and vibrant alpine flora with a rich cultural immersion into traditional mountain life and local folklore, making it an ideal destination for nature lovers, culture seekers, and landscape photographers.
